Nation Media Group Renews Commitment

Nairobi Monday 5th March 2018 – The Nation Media Group (NMG) today renewed its commitment to the Kenya Open Golf Championship, with a sponsorship deal worth KES. 4 Million towards the 2018 tournament, set to take place from the 22nd to the 25th of March at the Muthaiga Golf Club.
This sponsorship deal stretches NMG’s partnership with the annual tourney, as the official Media partner, to 22 years.
Speaking during the Cheque handover ceremony held at the Nation Center, NMG acting CEO Stephen Gitagama, expressed his company’s commitment to continue supporting the Kenya Open and the sport of Golf.
“The Nation Media Group has once again renewed its commitment to support the Kenya Open by offering both advertising and editorial support in a bid to enhance coverage of the tournament. This goes to reaffirm the Group’s commitment to the Kenya Open Golf Championship, and, by extension, the general growth and development of golf in Kenya,” he said.
Kenya Open Golf Limited Chairman Mr. Peter Kanyago thanked the Nation Media Group for their continued support, adding that the partnership has greatly aided the growth of the tournament over the years.

This has seen the Kenya Open Golf Championship get favorable publicity and visibility across the region through NMG’s TV, Print and Digital platforms. While giving an update on the tournament, Mr. Kanyago mentioned that due to the increased prize kitty, the Kenya Open this year is expected to attract a very high caliber of international players with a field of 156 players set to compete for a stake of the 500,000 Euros (KES. 62.5M) prize kitty, the biggest in the 2018 European Challenge Tour this year.
The championship will be preceded by two Pro-Am events on the 20th and 21st of March at the Muthaiga Golf Club where the public will get an opportunity to play against the professionals.
