Nyanza Clubs’ David Odhiambo, Mohit Mediratta of Sigona and Muthaiga Golf Club’s Jeff Kubwa bagged the last 3 spots for Kenyan Pros who will play at the 2018 Barclays Kenya Open next week. This now brings to 22 the number of Kenyan Pros who will be in action at Muthaiga Golf Club next week.
They qualified after in the their successful outing at the PGK Masters at Muithaiga Golf Club where David Odhiambo carried the day. Despite the waterlogged Muthaiga course , Odhiambo fired one over par 72 for an aggregate of four under par 280. Mediratta shot level par 71 for for three under 281 while Kubwa carded also 71 for 284.
The wet condition at Muthaiga appeared to have suited many of the players as majority returned 72 and better meaning that Kenya may have a big number of players making the cut if the rains continues thus making the greens slow. Most of the European pros are used to play on speedy greens.
But there is still a chance for three more Kenyans to play in the 500,000 Euro Kenya Open, if they play well in the open’s Pre-Qualifying event slated for Vet Lab Sports Club course on Monday , which will be open to players from every part of the world.
